About the Event
If you haven't danced with me before but you find ourself here reading this,
take that as all you need to know that you will be welcomed
and a 99% chance that you will love it.
Most of the time.
Sometimes you will hate it,
and that is also good medicine.
Rongoa 101.
Movement wise.
Movement is mihi.
Doors open at 945am - Karakia around 10am.
And then depending on who is in the room depends on the journey we take.
Know that you are just what is required to make the dance floor a dance floor delight.
Know that it can be messy and beauty full, sometimes a little wild,
and some times so fucken tender you get to remember that the humans are actually super fucken awesome, you included.
Bring water, clothes that you love to dance in,
a shawl or blanket for the floor and if you like to keep your feet warm, socks x
I like to dance in socks.
We finish up at 12noon and then you have all the Dopamine and Serotonin to slide you through the rest of the day.
See you there x and yes from here on we are weekly x
We are in the back rooms of Te Whaea, go straight past the toilets and down to the end of dance lane x
A few things as we begin to re-emerge onto our in-person dance floors.
Firstly and importantly, if you are feeling physically sick in any way please stay home. It is time to really respect our nervous systems, our immune systems, and that of others.
Secondly...We get a real opportunity to begin again, each time we enter that dance floor. How we treat ourselves, where we rest our body, and how we spend time with ourselves is so important. Take the time to tend to yourself first.
Tend to that remarkable body and when you are ready the other humans around you may too be ready to dance with.
Start close in.
Thirdly...We are kinda out of practice and as someone said, 'a bit rusty'. That's okay! That's super fuckn normal. Be distracted, come back again.
The art of showing up, takes practice, if you can, find a rhythm in regular attending.
It really does help.
Fourthly, If it gets too heavy inside you, take a break from yourself and just DANCE X
we are all there with you, and for reals!
we all need to let some light in.
